Hi Everybody,

A well chewed over subject, well at least on the German speaking forum. But to be honest, I am non the wiser on what to buy.

Basically I would like to have my cam running 24x7 aiming North (nicest views) which means I need to install it outdoors.(6m from my VP)

With temperature variations from -7 to +33 I would need a good allround weatherproof, humidity proof housing.

Budget wise I don't really want to go over 100€ but were see what I get.

So as always I would really appreciate your feed back

Cheers
Simon

Hello,

one Guy from this Forum has build his own Web-Cam housing.

You'll find the description here: http://www.joergeli.de/cam_technik.html

He uses an old DigiCam for Home-Videos, a RF-transmiter an some Parts from the local home improvement store.

Hi Lazarus,

Yes I saw that & marvelled at the guy's handwork.

But all that is not for me, give me a plug & play anytime  :-?

But thanks for the tip. Surely there must be something out there for outdoors & that can take half decent shots.

Cheers
Simon

Hi Simon,

I'm the one, who has built that funny thing and until now it works fine.

If you're not so familar with self-building,
take a look at this page, where you can buy
WEB-Cam-Houses at any size, with or without heating ...

http://www.henri-electronic.de/P_2167.php
Page is in German.

The only Cam's that can be used without an extra case,
are the models from Mobotix (as far as I know).
But the prize of these cam's is very high.

Happy 2008 and sorry for my bad English

Hi Jörg,

Sorry for the late reply, with New year fast approaching Im kept busy by all the relatives coming & going.

I actually have a an old working sony ccd tr412e.I really like your idea, but I think I would fail with my handy craft skills

What scares me was all your soldering work. I suppose I could go for wired instead of wireless ? what do you think. I'll have another good look at your diagramms, I'm off for a week so I might just give it a try.

Cheers & Happy New Year to all.

Hello Simon,

ZitatWhat scares me was all your soldering work. I suppose I could go for wired instead of wireless ? what do you think.

Of course you also can connect your Cam via cable with your PC.
A problem could be, that the signal-strength will not be strong enough, if the cable is too long.
I think a length of the AV-cable about 15-20 m will be OK.
Simply take a try :-)

Greetings
Jörg

Hello Simon,

maybe, you can get/use somethink like this: http://www.pearl.de/product.jsp?pdid=PE1500&catid=5450&vid=916&curr=DEM
This ist an Video/Audio-Transmitter with Cinch-Input.
So you can use your old Video-Camera without soldering ;-)
You also need a receiver.

At Conrad, there ist a Video-Transmitter avaliable, that uses the normal TV-Spectrum, so you can use a normal TV-receiver.

ZitatVideo/Audio-Transmitter with Cinch-Input.

I also tried this solution, but there were interferences with my WLAN.
Errors occured in the WEB-Cam-Picture: horizontally "stripes" were running through the picture.
Then I shut down the WLAN and the stripes disappeared.

With my "Soldering-Solution" there are no stripes, but in principle it's the same way .... mysterious
Perhaps little differences of the frequencies ?

Anyway, you can also try this way.

Greetings
