Hi
I make a simple static electricity detector ,i want to know at thunderstorm what
it show :D

I decided to put telescopic antenna for better ,the battery i stick with warm
glue

The original concept and design it is from here ,but i use another JFET
tranzistor

Because I see that portable goes well to change and in the house. I decided to make another one above on my roof and with cable in the house and to connect a multimeter in place mA in line with led, and to have it doubly in the console of weather station to see the changes of the stativ electricity at  storms and not only,I will epxeriment   of course at sensitivity  , perhaps and to change the cable antenna, I thought a round piece aluminium 30 cm diameter and 1 mm, to the present you see in foto the materials that I bought today Waterproof box, blue one ply 1,5 mm diameter for antenna, multimeter digital, PCB, the materials (transistor, led, resistance, battery 9 volt for the detector, power supply  9 volt 500 mA for the   supply multimeter, because it battery will finish fast, with patent I will open hole in the multimeter and I will remove cable with nail plug, male jack for the multimeter and cable .

hello Dimitris,

I like your experiments, please have a look at my detector build from techlib open on top readers versions my detector is the third from above.
detections around 150 km and lot of sensitivity.
I have implemented a jogging step counter to count the strikes.and some more gadgets.

please let us know how your experiments are goning on :-)

Kind regards Chris

Hello Chris and thank you,i know this site ,and congratulation you have make very nice work
My it is not VLF receiver ,just it understand the change to statistic electricity ,i have lightning radar longe range ,but this where i make it is for near distances

For today i am finnish the inside part ,and tomorrow i will finish and the conection over to my roof .

hello dimitris,

Ok i was looking forward to see the dish on your roof   but that photo was not present.

Did your messuraments increased with the 30 cm dish?
And do you need some reversed capacity under the dish like another small plate ?

Maybe I build this one myself :-D
At this moment my project with the Nane detector is still going on you find it on this site under

http://www.wetterstationen.info/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=16819&highlight=langwellen

so have a look at it.

kind regards Chris

Ηi Chris

Very nice project i will read again better the electronic design.
No for this time i do not have build yet the 30 cm disk ,i have for antenna the blue cable one ply 1,5 meters lenght and 1,5 mm diameter,i want to see first the results with cable ,and after i will build the disk .
I will experiment with 100 pF capacitor for antenna  disk ,and with out capasitor.
No i thing just one disk all plate antenna

I build for base 2 angle brackets 12,5 x 15 cm for touch the antenna at wall over to my roof .

hello Dimitris,

Yes I think like that is ok.I have seen more project using a detection plate like yours.

Do you think you can get a certain reference valua so you know activity is low or high ?
like around 100mv as normal without activity ,or in what value are you mesuraments made ?

are you shure you do not need a smaller metal plate under the detection plate as negatice capacity ?

Anyway your project is interresting.  :-P
